Excavator loading dump truck

Dump Truck Drivers (Application below)

We are looking for dedicated dump truck drivers to join our team. This is a full time hourly rate position, typical work week is Monday thru Friday 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM. Occasional Saturdays required, shift times vary day to day based on project needs.

Requirements:

  • Valid Class B Commercial Drivers License
  • Valid DOT Physical (Must be submitted w/application)
  • Pass Drug Test (Self Pay, Company will reimburse after 6 months of consecutive employment)
  • Clean driving record (Submit current record (obtained within the last 2 weeks) with application)
  • Must be 21 or older
  • Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees

Responsibilities

  • Transport construction materials to and from various projects in the Tri-County area
  • Document and log materials delivered to each project, as well as down time
  • Clean body after each load
  • Maintain clean and organized vehicle
  • Comply with truck driving state and federal rules and regulations, as well as with company policies and procedures
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
  • Collect and verify delivery instructions
  • Report defects, accidents or violations
  • Wear safety equipment (Vest, Hard Hat, Safety Glasses when applicable) while on jobsite
  • Work closely with heavy equipment

Lowboy/Tractor Trailer Driver- Class A CDL (Application below)

We are looking for a dedicated Lowboy Tractor Trailer driver to join our team. This is a full time hourly rate position, typical work week is Monday thru Friday 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM. Occasional Saturdays required, shift times vary day to day based on project needs.

Requirements:

  • Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License
  • Valid DOT Physical (Must be submitted w/application)

  • Clean driving record - No Points (Submit current record (obtained within the last 2 weeks) with application)
  • Must be 21 or older
  • Operate Heavy Equipment

  • Ability to lift 50lbs, bend, climb, squat

Responsibilities

  • Properly/safely secure equipment/vehicle to trailer

Heavy Equipment Operator (Application below)

Jimmy Richards & Sons Excavating, Inc. is looking for a dedicated, self-motivated, and experienced equipment operator to join our team.

Must have 1-5 years of experience with excavation/grading utilities experience is a plus. Projects are located within the Tri-County area (Calvert, Charles, & St. Mary's Counties) and parts of PG County and vary from Commercial Buildings to Residential Developments. Typical work weeks are Monday thru Friday from 7:00 A.M to 3:00 P.M, some extended hours and weekend work may be necessary depending on the workload and needs of the project.

Required skills:

  • Excavator operating experience
  • 1-5 Years utility experience, is a plus.
  • Reliable transportation to and from jobsites within the Tri-County area (Calvert, Charles, & St. Mary's Counties) and parts of PG County
  • Knowledge of Safety Regulations and the ability to adhere to them, as well as company policies & procedures
  • Required to work outside in extreme weather conditions – both hot and cold


Heavy-Duty Equipment/Automotive Mechanic (Application Below)

We are looking for a Heavy Equipment/Automotive Mechanic to assist with preventative maintenance and repairs of diesel equipment/vehicles and gas vehicles in the field and in our shop. You will travel to various job sites to make electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs on equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, backhoes, and more. Applicants should have some experience with diesel heavy equipment repair so they can determine what parts and tools are necessary for repairs. You need a valid driver's license and clean driving record to utilize the service truck and travel to/from job sites.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair automotive vehicles (such as diesel/gas pickups, dump trucks, tractor trailers), heavy-duty equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, rollers, etc.), and small equipment (air compressors, welders, etc.).
  • Driving to the job sites and suppliers as needed.
  • Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot issues with diesel and gas engines.
  • Determine what parts and tools are necessary to make repairs.
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty and light-duty vehicles/equipment.
  • Performing major repair work when necessary.
  • Consulting with other mechanic(s)/supervisor.
  • Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to Supervisor.
  • Complete shop paperwork.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Comply with truck driving state and federal rules and regulations, as well as with company policies and procedures
  • Report defects, accidents, or violations
  • Wear safety equipment (Vest, Hard Hat, Safety Glasses when applicable) while on jobsite
  • Work closely with heavy equipment      
  • Perform all required inspections.
  • Keep the shop, tools, vehicles, and equipment neat, clean, and in good repair. Clean work area at the end of every work shift. Always maintain security of all company equipment and tools.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Post-secondary certificate or degree in engineering OR training as a mechanic (a plus).
  • 2 to 5 years of experience with repairing diesel/heavy-duty equipment and diesel/gas light-duty vehicles.
  • Welding experience (a plus).
  • Manual dexterity.
  • MUST have Valid Class D Driver’s License and DOT card. Class B Driver’s license is a plus.
  • Clean driving record (Submit current record (obtained within the last 2 weeks) with application)
  • Must be 21 or older
  • Ability to lift heavy machinery/parts.

Must have 1-5 years of experience with installation and repair of water, sewer, storm drain, conduit, and storm water management systems. Projects are located within the Tri-County area (Calvert, Charles, & St. Mary's Counties) and parts of PG County and vary from Commercial Buildings to Residential Developments. Typical work weeks are Monday thru Friday from 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., some extended hours and weekend work may be necessary depending on the workload and need of the project.

Required skills:

  • 1-5 years experience with sewer systems, storm drains, and water mains.
  • Knowledge of construction and pipe laying techniques.
  • Knowledge of installing various types of pipe.
  • Knowledge of trench safety practices.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Good communication skills.

Projects are located within the Tri-County area (Calvert, Charles, & St. Mary's Counties) and parts of PG County and vary from Commercial Buildings to Residential Developments. Typical work weeks are Monday thru Friday from 6:30 A.M to 3:30 P.M, some extended hours and weekend work may be necessary depending on the workload and need of the project. 

  

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Smoothly and efficiently run a crew of 5-10 employees, performing cut to fill, grading, excavation, site demolition, sediment & erosion control. 
  • Complete daily work reports, record & track crew hours/ equipment time/ materials/ extra work/ deliveries
  • Weekly toolbox talks with crew
  • Adhere to MOSHA and OSHA regulations and company Policies & Procedures
  • Read and comprehend plans and drawings
  • Read cut sheets, set grades on stakes, transfer grades, and check elevations of existing and proposed conditions


Required Skills:

  •  5-10 Years Site Excavation/Grading experience

We are looking for an experienced Lube Truck Driver/Operator to join our team. This is an hourly rate full time position, typically Monday thru Friday, occasional Saturdays required, shifts vary day to day based on project needs. We work within the Southern Maryland Area (Calvert, Charles, St. Mary's, & Southern PG).

Requirements:

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License w/Tanker & Hazmat Endorsements
  • 5 Years' experience/knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance
  • Valid DOT Physical (Must be submitted w/application)
  • Pass Drug Test (Self Pay, Company will reimburse after 6 months of consecutive employment)
  • Clean driving record (Complete 7 year driving record required for consideration for this position, must have been obtained within the last 2 weeks)
  • Must be 21 or older
  • Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees

Responsibilities:

  • Routine maintenance of off-road heavy equipment (Lubrication, Oil & Filter changes, topping other fluids as needed)
  • Fueling equipment at all job sites
  • Document and log equipment hours and fuel/oil/filters used in each piece of equipment
  • Report any equipment issues to Supervisor
  • Maintain clean and organized vehicle
  • Comply with truck driving state and federal rules and regulations, as well as with company policies and procedures
  • Maneuver around job sites safely and effectively
  • Report defects, accidents, or violations
  • Wear safety equipment (Vest, Hard Hat, Safety Glasses when applicable) while on job-site
  • Work closely with heavy equipment
